Winnowing

Winnowing is a literary spiritual memoir for seekers, skeptics, meditators, thoughtful professionals, and the quietly curious — readers drawn to the deeper questions that surface in the course of a life.

Written in short, self-contained chapters arranged by theme rather than chronology, the book traces one woman’s search for spiritual depth inside a thoroughly secular life: work, love, loss, ambition, friendship, mistakes, meditation, and moments of unexpected grace.

This is not a how-to, a doctrine, or a conversion story. It is a lived inquiry — honest, contemplative, and beautifully written — for anyone who senses there may be more to experience than ordinary life appears to offer.

What Readers Experience

Rare and remarkable

Rare and remarkable

Rare and remarkable

Winnowing falls in that rare and remarkable category of spiritual writing that asks nothing of the reader except attention. No doctrine to believe, no attempt to convert or convince, no demand to surrender skepticism or suspend disbelief. It simply says: this is what happened to me.
- CF

A conversation

Rare and remarkable

Rare and remarkable

It wasn’t a timeline, but snippets of ah-ha moments that read like you are in the midst of a conversation with a friend. With each chapter I found myself reflecting on my own moments, and thinking about what I might glean from them to find more calm and purpose in my own life.
- KJ

Start my day

Rare and remarkable

Start my day

II find that I simply cannot put this book down. Kira’s search for a spiritual path has such depth and integrity that I am now fully invested in each startling twist and turn in her story, each peak and valley of her quest. I no longer start my day by doomscrolling—I start my day with Winnowing.

- KD

Moved me

Surprisingly practical

Start my day

Winnowing did what any book worthy of my time should do: it moved me to a new place in my life—for the better.

Listening

Surprisingly practical

Surprisingly practical

It's weird to read a book and feel like the author is actually listening to you. Winnowing is like a stroll in a park—maybe at dusk, maybe in a fresh morning—with that friend who says a lot by saying very little and mostly just makes you feel heard, and held, and fascinating.
- NWS

Surprisingly practical

What I found most valuable is the reminder that clarity—about ourselves, our motivations, and how we interpret the world—often comes through small shifts over time rather than dramatic breakthroughs. In fast-paced professional environments, that kind of perspective is surprisingly practical.
